We only lose Nash and Romaine from this senior class.
These SEC caliber players will be juniors next year, with 2 more years of eligibility:
Kessinger, Wilmes, Martin, Moore, Wert.
Add in sophomores Rollin and Torres, and you have 7 really strong position players to form the core of the team. Then add in promising sophomores and juniors Decker, Raabe, Bailey. And senior G. Garrison. And the incoming freshman class.
That’s a lot of talent. But as you said the key is going to be finding at least 1 or 2 shutdown pitchers. With Norman also graduating, here will be our pitching staff next year:
Seniors: Daniel, Scates
Juniors: Gasper, Judge, Koester, Schockley
Sophomores: none
Freshmen: Schumacher, Weber, Nichols.
Since the freshmen are unproven, LA really needs to bring in a high quality transfer from another program, and I believe she will. Schumacher is the potential stud from that freshman class, she originally committed to Hofstra but chose to follow LA here. She chose Mizzou over Georgia and Minnesota which is a promising sign. Judge had a stellar HS career in Illinois but has hardly pitched in college and is on her 3rd team now, her contribution is unknown but she could have a big upside. And I still have high hopes that Eli Daniel will build on her amazing performance against Georgia and become an effective SEC pitcher.
All in all, I’m excited about this teams future, and about Coach Anderson’s ability and leadership. Her recruiting from here on out, particularly with pitchers, will of course be the prime factor in her success here.
