McCain pretends that as a senator, he had no options or ability to verify it.

Really? Couldn't get any of his staff to check on the names of the people involved?

McCain knew it was bullshyte, but it was bullshyte he liked, and he fed it to someone he knew would play politics with it.

In short, McCain attempted to overthrow the duly elected president of the united states, because trump said mean things about him.
