and clearly untested so far.

They have lost to the best 4 teams they have faced, and only one of them (Indiana) is even a top 25 team. The SEC is a huge upgrade from the pitiful schedule they chose to play so far in order to rack up a lot of easy wins in what were essentially non-competitive games.

That’s not saying it wont be a big challenge to take 1-2 games off of them. It will be. They were picked 2nd in the SEC in the coaches preseason poll. I don’t think any softball fan would say they are the second best SEC team now based on their first 28 games. Or one of the top 10 teams in the nation.

Right now I’d put the SEC into 3 tiers:

Tier 1: Tennessee, Florida, Alabama
Tier 2: LSU, Kentucky, SC, Auburn, Arky, Georgia
Tier 3: Mizzou, Ole Miss, Miss St, TAMU

I’ll be pretty surprised if anyone else breaks into that top 3 teams.

The 6 teams in Tier 2 could finish in any order and it wouldn’t surprise me. Georgia could finish anywhere from 4-9 in that group, my guess is more in the 6-8 range.

The Tier 3 teams could finish in any order also. Just can’t see any of them finishing in the top 8 in the conference. Although Ole Miss did beat Arkansas 2/3 games last weekend.
