fraud is much, much worse than simply violating antiquated amateurism rules designed exclusively for extracurricular activities.
however, paying players in the form of a useless scholarship to pretend to be students until they run out of eligibility is just as much a fraud in my book, but that's the accepted business model so i guess there's not much to do about that.
