1. Was the question legitimate and provocative?
2. Is the discomfiture of a single or even multiple or even every friggin student a good reason to avoid the question?
3. The question in your post was not anything close to equivalent to the question from the teachers. My post was about 8th graders. Your hypothetical question would have been an excellent one in the context of a psychology class in abnormal behavour or a criminal justice course for adults.
But it may make someone uncomfortable.
4. Should the school have done what they always do, apologize for the increasingly rare times when they get something right...instead of doing something easy?
5. Did the daddy help his little princess daughter by shielding her from being uncomfortable in class?
