Settled in at most positions and in the batting order, but how long does it stay this way?

Wilmes and Nash hold down 1-2 in the order, Nash hitting lead off the first 3 games, Wilmes the last 7. They should be setting the table for the next 4 hitters. Nash is off to a respectable .324 average, but with her speed has the potential to hit much higher. Wilmes is struggling at .233, how much longer does she keep hitting lead off? You can’t have one of your top two hitters at that average.

The 3 hole spot is an even bigger issue. You need your biggest offensive production in the 3-6 spots in the hitting order. Bailey and Romaine have been hitting 3 and 4 in all 10 games so far, Wert has hit 5th in 9 of 10 games, and Torres has hit 6th in 7 games and hit 5th once. Romaine, Wert and Torres have been on fire, hitting .379, .394, and .462 respectively. But Bailey is really struggling, hitting an anemic .138. How long does Coach LA go with a hitter in the 3 hole that hits that poorly?

Then you have the 7-8 spots in the order. That’s been Moore and Martin in every game except one, when Decker hit 7th. Martin is one of the best clutch hitters on the team, is hitting .360 so far. Moore has a couple of hits yesterday to raise her average to .192.

The 9 spot has been whoever plays RF, George in 4 of the first 5 games, then McDannold in 4 of the next 5 before Garrison got the start against KU.

Non starters Garrison, Rollin, Decker have very few at bats, but collectively they are hitting .560, 14-25. When do they get more playing time?

Bailey hitting in the 3 spot needs to be addressed. She should be hitting much further down the order and move Romaine, Wert, and Torres up a spot each. Or, can’t Rollin play 2B? Maybe it’s time to try her in the lineup regularly.

The other issue offensively is of course at catcher. If Moore keeps hitting at a sub .200 pace, does she stay in the starting line up because of her defense? If so, for how long? What are the options for moving someone else in a catcher, and how does that disrupt the rest of the line up?
