Agree with so much of this.
I blame SC on that 3-1 break too, with her size and the angle she had she should have just taken it hard all the way to the basket and scored and/or drawn a foul. This team does have a tendency to overpass.
Agree on Levy too, I know people get frustrated with her mistakes, which are often glaring. But other players, Sophie, Porter, Schuchts and others throw the ball away carelessly all the time too. It should be clear by now that it is a net plus of having Levy in the game, what she brings to the court and how different the team looks when she is in there outweighs her freshman mistakes. And yes, while Lauren came though nicely in the second half, it is painful to watch her run the point, it takes so long to get our offense going that we are constantly rushing shots, or not even getting them off, as the shot clock expires. We are much more effective with Lauren on the wing, spotting up for 3’s, and Levy playing point.
Yes, it was a chippy game, but I thought it was well called by the refs overall, they called the hand checks and blocks both ways and kept a game under control that could have gone the other way. Neither team was going to back down. But it was awful that the refs didn’t even look at the elbow McCowan threw on her offensive foul in the final minutes. That was at minimum, no question, a flagrant 1. Could have possibly been a flagrant 2, but that’s a judgment call the refs have to make. I hope the SEC office looks at that one. Not holding my breath though.
