He didn't demonstrate last season he was anywhere close to being an NBA contributor. He has some good games against opponents with terrible frontcourts, and he showed an ability to hit college threes when basically unguarded. He isn't going to get to face Vanderbilt in the NBA.
There won't be any terrible frontcourts on any NBA teams, and with his slow release it will be pretty easy for more mobile NBA players to prevent him getting good looks from the outside. He had a pretty good game against USC who has a marginal potential NBA big, and an ok game the first time we played UK. Otherwise when we played opponents that had fringe NBA caliber bigs or good college level bigs he mostly was overwhelmed (which is to be expected given he should have been in high school). Look at our last 4 games of the year against opponents with decent frontcourts (FSU, UK, and A&M twice). He was a combined 6 of 36 from the field (16%). That is not the way a top 5 type of player would produce against semi-NBA opponents (he also got shut out against Tacko Fall, if you want to include him). He had 13 games of 6 or less points last season.
He doesn't possess NBA level athleticism, he has a very immature low post game, and his body has a lot of developing. If he is going to succeed in the NBA its going to be because of his frame and a high skill level, and he is still several years away from either being NBA ready.
