I'm sure Hunt & Reid knew early on that the D was going to be a problem, probably when a 4 score lead went 'poof' instantly at Pitt.
As they progressed into the 2nd half, it came to a point that they couldn't stop anything--run or pass. When you have a playoff bound team, you don't fire your coordinator even if it's obvious he isn't getting it done. The Chiefs were stuck with it.
