Capitalistic society, the answer is the same. Do what you can to provide for your and your family's future. Begin with proper parenting (if you have children) education for you and your children and, then, craft your own answer via a career or ownership of an enterprise. That is the 'Dream' that started this whole thing.

Another way to phrase it is, keep this motor (the economy) running smoothly (it is not now) and leverage your individual skills to take advantage for your own benefit.
