The difference is Young’s 3’s were even harder than the type Geist takes.
A quick in game example is Geist against Tennessee. He was 2-8 from 3 that game. 3 were just trying to beat the shot clock, all 3 were low percentage variety due to poor execution of the offense.
Most college coaches don’t just look at the 3-point percentages. They grade the possession and the type of shot it created. Those 3 possessions would go down as failed possessions, because of the quality of shots taken.
Now Geist isn’t the only one to take hard 3’s, he just takes more of them.
