Geist and Puryear play out of necessity

Clearly, they are nothing close to normal SEC starters, but they are going to play minutes out of necessity. Geist is our only guard with any experience handling the ball in big games, and although he is artrocious in possessions with the clock winding down, he has developed under Cuonzo to the point that he is formidable throughout the game in other spots. Puryear probably wouldn’t play at all, and would have transferred long ago on a power-five team with even a bit of front-court depth. He is experienced enough that he has moments, scant as they are. Nikko is a MAC talent and Mitchell Smith maybe Ohio Valley. Not sure either would start in either league.

It is becoming alarmingly obvious how terrible the roster left by KA truly was. Too bad the Porters were both hurt and we only had Kassius one year.
