But they did play together with the football Cardinals. I believe Gray was a Juco transfer from California who played his last two years at Mizzou. He's still one of, if not the fastest player ever to play for the Tigers. I believe he ran a 9.3 100 yard dash as a track star, which was world class at that time. When he entered the league, he and Olympian Bob Hayes for the Cowboys were nightmares for opposing defenses because of their speed.

Still remember his last game as a Tiger in Devine's only losing season (5-6, mostly due to a rash of injuries to key players). He took a kickoff against the beakers and as the seas parted with some great blocking, he hit the hole and was gone. I knew it was a score as soon as I saw that gap, because nobody was going to catch him.
