When you had good players maybe starting with the successful transformation of Carl Gettis & then added EJ Gaines. I suppose that's about when it really stood out for me.
Then you had Aarion Penton & Kenya Dennis duo.
Those guys could go man-to-man and also attack runners.
It probably helps (sarcasm) also when your DEs were in the backfield.
I was sort of thinking along the same lines when someone on Tigerboard had posted, during this season, that Adam Sparks was your ~"best" or most valuable defensive player.
Beckner is surely most talented, but Sparks for awhile was maybe the most crucial player. Good thing to get Holmes back then or things could have really gone south.
