Barry Odom by the Numbers - Pinkel vs Odom

Please look over all these stats and debate them. Would this record of accomplishments survive at another SEC school?
I want even the most DIE HARD ODOM fan to read all the numbers posted here... this took over an hour to research. Scroll thru it because you will be SHOCKED... to me the most alarming is that in four years Odom has only got 13 Missouri Players to stay home, while Pinkels last 4 years was 30 players. Odom has failed to land a #1 player from the state while Pinkel did it over his last four years 2 out of 4. Odom has only been able to land 5 of the top 10 recruits over four years that is 5 for 40. Pinkel was 15-40. Odom has done this bad in Missouri despite every high school player KNOWING for two years Mizzou is building a brand new football only complex... something Pinkel NEVER had! Please read thru these stats.

Just to put it in perspective Pinkel last class had SIX 4 star players in just 2015.

According to Rivals Class Ranks have been 47 - 49 - 39 - 32 average 41

Pinkels last four class average was 33.

SEC Class Rank over his four years 13 - 13 - 12 - 13 Only Vandy has a worse class ranking over four years. So in other words second to last. BTW Vandy is the hardest school in the SEC to get into just keep that in mind.

How does Mizzou win in football if we can only get 5 of the top 40 recruits from our state over four years? Odom has got zero players from Kansas in 2015 alone Pinkel got two of the top 3. Odom has got no one from East St Louis yet Pinkel got the #1 recruit in the country. I think you see the trend here Odom has NO PULL in his own region or even his own state. 5 of the top 40 guys from your own state commit to Mizzou while Pinkel got 15.

THINK OF THIS ALARMING STAT... Pinkel Landed 15 TOP 10 Missouri Players over four years... Odom has only landed 13 players TOTAL. HOW IS THIS GUY GOING TO WIN RECRUITING LIKE THAT??????

Before you go comparing Pinkel's first three seasons 17-19 to Odom's 19-19 and Odom two bowl losses to Pinkels one bowl loss... lets dive deeper.

Pinkel coached Mizzou 15 seasons with a record of 118-73 and a conference record of 64-57 with a total bowl record of 6-4. Lets look at What Odom inherited opposed to Pinkel

PRIOR TO PINKEL 15 season record was 59-105-4 if we throw in the 1985 seasons you'd add in another 1-10 season and 3-7-1 the year before that. WORST STRETCH IN MIZZOU HISTORY

Record prior to Odom taking over 118-73 that is basically 50% more wins.

Odom didn't take over an outhouse here... he took over a program with a lot to build upon despite Pinkel's last season. Furthermore Pinkel never got his football only complex to help with recruiting Odom has had it under construction all year to help with recruiting and failed.

FURTHERMORE this roster he just had has at least FIVE NFL draft picks that Pinkel brought in including Lock who's a first round pick. This guy did NOT take over a program like Pinkel especially not when you get an NFL first round draft pick as your QB for all three years of your coaching career. Sorry Charlie.

BUT HERE IS THE BIGGEST REASON FOR THE DIFFERENCE between Odom and Pinkel and is WHY this HIRE was wrong from the start.

Prior Head Coaching Experience

Pinkel 10 seasons at Toledo 73-37-3 with one bowl appearance a win!

Odom prior head coaching experience - ZERO!

He was the DC for ONE year at Mizzou ONE YEAR that is the sum total of his Power 5 coaching experience as a head coach or coordinator. I think the stats speak for themselves that Barry is not ready for this job, or is failing.
