Sorry, but to say that the advantages enjoyed at Shawnee Mission North and Ladue don't contribute to higher learning and college acceptance. Bullsht.
The current funding model provides lack generous level of local support. I suggest we change that model so that YES folks in Ladue no longer face RE tax funding of schools, but face their funding of Moberly and Raytown and East of Troost. Hard hard hard to do. But local funding disparities are a contributing to the decline of education standards as are other factors as well.
And per your point of "cheapening the value of secondary education" I prefer we invest my money and your money in the education of all the kids so that all the adults those kids become in 5-6 years are educated.
I am a Romantic Idealists by and by.
