In departments where I worked there was a definite understanding about relationships.
Two officers who became in a relationship and eventually married were placed in different divisions where neither would even work directly together, let alone be in a supervisory capacity over the other.
Another department had 2 officers, male and female, who became roommates. They were not involved in a relationship, but the Chief said if that changed he needed to be made aware immediately.
My wife worked at a department where a Sgt made repeated sexual harassment verbal attacks against a female detective. The brass tried to do something about it but failed to take severe disciplinary action against the Sgt. responsible. She ended up with a very nice 6 figure settlement and the department changed its procedures dramatically on how it dealt with sexual harassment.
But go ahead and spout off about shìt you know nothing about except what you see on cop dramas on TV.
