g reasons:

1. The Cardinals feel he's the perfect guy for the job and they want him to know it and give him and the roster their full endorsement, rather than running him through an interview process just to "show the fans" they are "big time".

2. The players revere the guy and this is a reward for his and the teams efforts and a boost to a team making a playoff run.

What's the downside? You don't hire Joe Girardi?
