the future embarrassment of incorrectly using the word "sanctimonious" around people whose esteem you value or those who are in a position to laud you or shower you with accolades.

You don't have to be angry nor resentful toward me for correcting you - even though you were being hateful in that post without provocation.

Just remember sanctimonious implies, generally, a moral superiority or especially a religious superiority.

I'm being condescending and I'm belittling you, not being sanctimonious.
