vividly remember one brand doing these "foil" special edition rookie cards. I kept thinking if I could get some of the top draft picks in foil they might be worth a lot.

Drew Bledsoe and Rick Mirer were at the top of the draft, and QBs, so I really wanted those. Also Garrison Hearts & Jerome Bettis were high RB picks.

I ended up with like 10 Willie Roafs.

Goddamnit. I mean, he ended up as a HOFer, but the football cards worth anything are the skill position guys usually.
