That might have to do with some of those many German immigrants founding the country’s 1st American Viticultural Area recognized by the Federal Government.
The very influential STL Wine region is called “Rhineland,” since that area very much resembles parts of the Rhine.
Roots of Missouri grape vines have for years been sold to producers in Sonoma & other CA wine regions to grow their grapes.
