Mizzou does have some of the worst fans in the country. Much of that comes from a lack of historical winning. Before Pinkel, our program was horrendous. Any school that is tied with wins in a rivalry with ku is not good. Pinkel really started changing all of that and fans did start showing up more regularly.
But we have zero NCs, no conference championship in how many years now? Before I was even born certainly. That lack of winning creates a lack of enthusiasm and less new fans for the base.
I grew up in Missouri, before 2007 I had literally never even heard of Mizzou. Seriously. I was a teenager in high school then.
As much as I hate it, you'll see fans from schools like ku and nebraska everywhere... Because they were good at one thing and won NCs.
To turn this around and catch up, we need to overpay for a big name and get back to winning.
