Durant encountered James while James was still lunging to his left. That was clearly shown on TV both in real time and slow motion.
I saw it as a clear blocking foul, but NBA reffing is crazy as far as I'm concerned, which is why I can't watch NBA games for very long.
The definition of block vs. charge seems to have changed since I used to be a Celtics fan quite a few years ago. I'm sure it used to be that you had to establish position and stay there for a count (or a step) to win a charge against the offensive player.
I think basketball fouls should be redefined: no harm, no foul. I hate the touch fouls, especially the ones called against the defensive player against a shooter. I think the "and 1" should be eliminated -- if the guy made his shot, it couldn't have been much of a foul, and you are doubly penalizing the defense.
If a guy gets knocked down or severely hacked, that's a foul. The NBA often allows it to happen without calling it. College is a bit better, but not perfect.
