But I guess you can be a fan of something and still remain ignorant.
Teams like the Hawks or Magic aren't going to pass on a potentially elite player because he might take a year to develop.
Bad teams are typically bad because they lack stars and lack quality players to surround that star. That's a problem that takes multiple years and multiple drafts to fix. If you don't have a star yet, it makes no sense at all to improve yourself enough that you'll decrease your odds of getting him the next year.
