The article suggests the Treasury may be covering up for Cohen, but there is nothing to suggest they have motivations to do so (the guy is already in legal trouble).

If "pay for play" evidence emerges, by all means pursue it. But it still doesn't excuse the illegal activity of the leaker(s). The means to an end schtick needs to end when it comes to politics, and both sides need to be more consistent.
