So I just noticed that Micheal Porter Sr signed not only a 3 year contract with base pay each year of $300,000 and $75,000 in supplemental pay. But that the contract is GUARANTEED for $1.125 million for 3 years. So we are paying him the remainder even if he leaves.
So does that hinder our ability to attract a viable replacement should he leave after this season if so much of our assistant coaching budget the next two years is tied up in someone no longer on the staff?
With the signing period running April 11th - May 16th, if in fact he is not remaining as part of the staff isn't it pretty counterproductive to not identify a replacement given that assistants frequently have recruits attached to them and hiring a new assistant often results in the addition of new players to the class?
Just seems like we are potentially botching this transition if in fact one is occurring.
