I don't get why people think returning to college will help him so much more than the NBA. He will be able to put all day everyday into basketball in the NBA where in college he wouldn't. He will have the best facilities, the best coaches, and the best trainers. And if he isn't good enough to get minutes in the NBA, he will get time in the G-League playing against players that are much better than what he will see most nights at the collegiate level. The NBA will be much better for improving his game than college ever could be.
