I think you're generalizing all of the weaknesses together of our bigs.
Jontay actually has very soft hands for a big guy. He rarely bobbles passes and can sometimes come up with a loose ball on the floor among guards. But offensively, you're right, he is soft around the basket. Great passer and shooter, especially for 6'11', but needs to develop a drop step move down low. Defensively, he does pretty good normally as shown by his blocks and rebounding.
Tilmon is not soft at all. Not afraid to bump and bruise on offense or defense down low. Too much so, in fact. That's why he's always in foul trouble. Being soft is definitely not a weakness of his. But he does have bricks for hands. I've noticed this in several games, including tonight. He struggles catching passes, and will dribble off his leg or foot if he's trying to take more than just one or two dribbles around the baseline with a defender contacting him.
Nikko is what he is. He's not an elite player at this level, but can provide a solid contribution as needed, which unfortunately is a lot with our other guys getting in foul trouble. He will be exposed playing against elite D1 talent like UK has. He is serviceable against most non-blue bloods.
Jontay will never be an elite athlete, and Tilmon will never be a silky smooth player. But they both will be markedly better in their weaknesses next year. Nikko will be about the same.
