It was not the right move...and if you want my reason for why you are wrong...I give you Lucas Duda. Why? Because Lucas Duda only had to throw 90 feet...in front of a semi-cheering home crowd with the pressure of sending it to a game 6.
Brandon Crawford, on the other hand...had to make a throw offline, 100 feet further, into the teeth of a roaring crowd, and pressure that already made two of his teammates choke on the same play. You cannot possibly tell me that the pressure of the moment would have guaranteed to be a non factor on that play.
If Lucas Duda can f*ck up a throw that badly from 90 feet at home...what on EARTH makes you think Brandon Crawford can gun a guy out from more than 2x away, into that kind of noise and pressure.
And no...Salvy was not touching Bumgarner that night. Nobody was.
