The President, and congress, set policies that create or remove barriers to economic growth. That drives business strategy and results which drive investment. Recent economic strategies removing barriers and costs of business have created rising jobs numbers and wages. That drives up interest rates which spooks the markets.
While some give too much credit to the White House, the tone set there clearly matters.
