Trump continues to implode until 2020 (forgetting Mueller for this scenario). Democrats wins back the White House and the Old Republicans have more moves to rid themselves of the Crackpot Republicans, if they can. The problem is that they have invaded their ranks to the extent that it's not going to happen overnight.

I also think there are some fundamental problems within the Old Republicans that have caused the rise of the Crackpot Republicans, so good luck converting those crackpot voters back. Especially when you're giving them the middle finger on things like taxes.
