I had some issues with Pinkel, but he was a genius at identifying overlooked potential and developing his players to the limits of their potential. I don't think it's a stretch to assume that BO might have learned something from him.

Keep in mind that Mayfield had to walk on at TTU AND OU. He didn't even make it on GP's scope (maybe GP had stopped recruiting TX by 2013). At any rate, you get my larger point...
