If you go to the NFL and aren't polished, you really don't have much opportunity to get significantly better while standing next to the head coach as the backup.
If Lock gets drafted in the 6th or 7th round, he'll have very little opportunity and will need to develop his abilities on his own dime. NFL teams don't invest a lot in QB who don't know it immediately.
The news was that Lock eclipsed Andre Woodson for the SEC single season TD record. Woodson never made it onto an active NFL roster.
