Communicties like to have a local relationship with their fire departments. Turn it into a major worldwide corporation and now it would be like dealing with ComCast or Uverse.

Co-worker just had that with Waste Management, who bought up the contract for trash service in his area. Fired them last week and found a local mom & pop trash company who answered their phone with a live person instead of an automated system where you had to jump through hoops trying to find a live person to discuss billing.
