The world bank, not exactly a bastion of socialism, is warning against the economic impact of income inequality. Political scientist are warning against the impact of wealth inequality on democracy.
Trump himself campaigned, in substance, on the economic pain caused by globalization. Well globalization has had winners and losers. The winners have been the top 1%. The losers have been the lower middle class. This plan doesn't mitigate the adverse consequences of globalization, it increases them.
