As I also said, many private listings of working firearms go through an FFL for the transaction.. It is cheap and provides protection for the seller.

Sellers who do not use an FFL are asking for trouble if they sold to a criminal. You want a record that you sold the gun filed with a third-party if it is ever used in a crime.
