Last year the hurry up thing provided a spark the offense

badly needed. That doesn't mean it was the right thing for this year. For this team, the hurry up should be when you have a defense on their heels last in the game, or are trying to come back from a few scores down late.

The players or scheme haven't been developed, and DC's are on to what we're doing. At this level it's evolve or get left behind.

Complicating matters are this particular offense failing does double damage. Not only are you not scoring, but you're leaving your weakest link on the field all game.
