St. Louis is exactly the same as what I experienced when I went to Paris the first time. People told me the French hated Americans. I went 3 times, never had a problem. It's more about how you approach others than how they are perceived. If you are friendly and say hi, and are polite, both in St. Louis and in France, you are very likely to never had a problem. If you are reserved, unfriendly, and it shows, they won't give you the time of day. I got to preach in 2 black churches in St. Louis, because black friends invited me. Good honest respectful people who were kind enough to tell their pastors they would like for me to come. People who want to find trouble will find it. People who want to be friendly and get along will find plenty of kindhearted blacks who are more than willing to reciprocate.
