This is a classic example of Bastiat's "That Which is Seen, That Which is Not Seen".
You're not considering the 1.2 million (possibly more, possibly less) jobs that could be created in other sectors for other purposes (not destructive) if the extraction of capital needed to sustain the military ceased to occur.
It is a bad deal.
