not believe in a white privilege, as I can set forth millions of white people who have been afforded little to no privileges (as we understand that term). I believe that all individuals are unique in both nature and nurture, and should be approached in that manner. Unfortunately, central policymaking inherently rebukes this idea of individual uniqueness, which not only engenders blunt characterizations of people (see: hokie's earlier post) but also real life disparate effects (see: welfare and inner city people).
I am curious of Hokie's response, as he wants to casually ascribe certain characteristics/tendencies to any given individual person based on that person's sharing of a rough physical characteristic with other persons.
I doubt hokie believes that white privilege exists, and I would guess that any success he's attained in life is attributed by him to his or his family's hard work and innovation. But, he's not really in a position to make an individualized claim, is he?
