Just something that Kreklow does. I've never heard him address why. I assume it's because he wants to build up the teams confidence by getting them a lot of sure wins before conference play starts, and to figure out the best starting lineup.
But now that Mizzou seems to have a team capable of challenging for the top 25 each year, and has made the NCAA tourney 3 of the last 4 years, you would think its about time he gives them a big girls non-conference schedule every year.
Even in the magical 2013 season when we went 35-1, Molly Kreklow was a senior, and we were seeded #4 nationally, we had an awful non conference schedule, just embarrassing. That team was great, but still, overrated, and lost in the second round at home to a very good, ranked Purdue team. We would have been better off in the tournament, IMO, if we had been tested far more often in non conference play and even taken a few losses, than playing a cupcake non conference schedule with all the talent we had.
This years schedule is actually an improvement over the schedules over the last 6 years at least, I just think it could have been tougher given the talent we have, and our national aspirations.
