LOI. He's good friends with MPS and the sons' godfather, and wouldn't force them to remain separated from their family if it's not what they wanted.
What most likely happened is this:
When the Porters originally committed to Romar, they made it clear that if an opportunity arose to return to CoMo and reunite the family, they would take it. When MU fired KA and Sterk brought in Cuonzo, that opportunity arose. There's no way Romar was going to force the Porters to coach/play for him, especially after his 2-16 season (and that might be part of the reason the Porters wanted out, as well).
The fact is, Romar would have been fired a year sooner if it weren't for the Porters. They bought him an extra year at UW, and he should be grateful for that. He should also understand that the circumstances that originally brought the Porters to him/UW changed, and should therefore have no hard feelings that they chose to reunite the family in light of the new circumstances.
