perpetuated against the great student athletes and their accomplishments and representation of the program.

This is the way all D1 programs work, so this is simply a return to the pre-Kim era. Thankfully he is no longer involved so we can see it occur. Otherwise I suppose they could be bowling or playing flag football or planning a different vacation while talking about how they finally had 'their guys', then failing to an absurd degree.
