Even 'back in the day' before divorce was fairly common, Dads worked long hours and Mom raised the kids. Dad would get home after the young kids had gone to bed.

My old man did 1 year in Korea and 2 years in Vietnam before I was 8. Was he an absentee dad? I never thought so.
