tried to see things from someone else's viewpoint. He lacks wisdom.

It's all about emotion with him. He felt like supporting CS1950 was the right thing to do, because "racism", but he didn't think much about the consequences to the University. Because he was so vocal about his support, and because he might be a narcissist, he will only double down instead of admitting his mistakes.
