You willing to let unintelligent people just die in the streets at that point?

I would prefer that the government stay the hell out of my retirement management and let real actuaries and professional managers do that using conservative planning.

Go look at how well managed the Missouri Teachers Retirement program is. Private pension that does a very nice job of factoring in cost of living, and other issues into their projections.
