there was nothing racial about fascist ideology. That came from Hitler and National Socialism. Fascism and National Socialism are not the same thing even if people use them interchangeably. The idea "the right" became associated with racism is when the horrors of the holocaust came out and progressives had to distance themselves from the holocaust. The holocaust was the result of early 20th century progressive movement on eugenics.

Hitler got his ideas from this American progressive.
