Yes, both are the same, but some of these other comments are revisionist.

Trump ran as an anti-establishment (Fed bureaucrats) populist and nationalist.

Obama ran as a partisan with the same exact Dem line as all others before him - "i'll help the fed govt get you your fair share, you're being screwed": big business is bad, whitey is greedy, etc.

they weren't the same at all before election.

They are proving to be the same in foreign policy essentially, but still not the same in many other aspects, but I understand the need to simplify things to make the point.
