Things get messy. Especially with weather and mechanical delay issues.

You may have 20000 people sitting around in some larger airports and no pilots or crews with hours left to fly them out on because of weather delay's. That is a safety issue and not the airlines fault.

I guess they could hire thousands of unnecessary crew and pay them to just sit around. You are willing to pay for this right?



People make mistakes and sometimes don't communicate correctly.

It isn't a life or death issue usually if someone is delayed, even against their will.

Much like getting caught in a traffic jam.
