Myth of the GOOD IMMMIGRANT - who it might be alleged manifested certain characteristics, among such characteristics MIGHT include assimilation.

Assimilation here is not a myth of trait of adopting the traditions and lifestyle of a predominant cohort. That is not a myth. The Myth is that once ago in a foggy past there as this class of Good Immigrants who strived to "fit right in'.

I advise you to look up Italians in America, a terrific piece that is part of the PBS Series, the American Experience. It shows an immigrant class that was widely detested at the time - but today Italian Americans are about as "American" as apple pie.
